Origami Simple Balloon (Water Bomb)

1. Start with your paper colored side down, white side facing you, in a square orientation.
**Terminology: Start with colored side down (standard starting position)**

2. Fold the paper in half horizontally, bringing the bottom edge to the top edge. Crease and unfold.
**Terminology: Valley fold in half horizontally, then unfold (creates horizontal centerline)**

3. Fold the paper in half vertically, bringing the left edge to the right edge. Crease and unfold.
**Terminology: Valley fold in half vertically, then unfold (creates vertical centerline)**

4. Turn the paper over so the colored side is facing you.
**Terminology: Turn over - note: previous creases now appear as mountain folds from this side**

5. Fold the paper in half diagonally, bringing the bottom left corner to the top right corner. Crease and unfold.
**Terminology: Valley fold along diagonal, then unfold**

6. Fold the paper in half diagonally the other way, bringing the bottom right corner to the top left corner. Crease and unfold.
**Terminology: Valley fold along diagonal, then unfold (completes waterbomb base crease pattern)**

7. Turn the paper back over so the white side is facing you. Using all the creases, bring the left and right corners together at the bottom, collapsing the paper into a triangle with the top and bottom corners meeting at the top.
**Terminology: Collapse into waterbomb base (uses all existing creases to create 3D triangular form)**

8. Position the triangle so the open point is at the top. Take the right corner of the front layer and fold it up to meet the top point.
**Terminology: Valley fold corner to point**

9. Take the left corner of the front layer and fold it up to meet the top point.
**Terminology: Valley fold corner to point (creates diamond shape on front)**

10. Turn the model over and repeat steps 8-9 on this side.
**Terminology: Turn over and repeat valley folds to point**

11. On the front, fold the right corner of the diamond inward to the vertical centerline.
**Terminology: Valley fold corner to centerline**

12. Fold the left corner of the diamond inward to the vertical centerline.
**Terminology: Valley fold corner to centerline**

13. Turn the model over and repeat steps 11-12 on this side.
**Terminology: Turn over and repeat valley folds to centerline**

14. At the top, you should see small triangular flaps. Fold the top right flap down and tuck it into the pocket created by the fold in step 11.
**Terminology: Valley fold flap down and tuck into pocket (locks the model)**

15. Fold the top left flap down and tuck it into the pocket on the left side.
**Terminology: Valley fold flap down and tuck into pocket**

16. Turn the model over and repeat steps 14-15, tucking the flaps into the pockets on this side.
**Terminology: Turn over and repeat tucking flaps into pockets (secures all sides)**

17. Find the small hole at the bottom of the model. Hold the model gently and blow into the hole to inflate the balloon.
**Terminology: Inflate model through opening (creates 3D cube form)**

18. Once inflated, you can gently press and shape the balloon to make it more cube-like.
**Terminology: Shape and adjust inflated form (optional finishing)**
